GENLUX LIGHTING TURNS 20 YEARS OLD!

In June 2011, Genlux Lighting turned 20 years old. It feels like yesterday that GEC Alstom sold off their manufacturing and distribution section of street, flood and industrial range to a group that knew very little what the lighting Industry had install for them.

20 years down and the group may have changed, but Genlux Lighting is still out there, growing, improving and listening to the needs of the entire market to bring them quality, reliable, well built and mainly locally sourced and assembled lighting solutions.

Genlux Lighting is based in Germiston. We started off renting premises from GEC Alstom for a period of 2 years, then moved out and rented with in Driehoek for a further 3 years. In 1996, Genlux Lighting bought their first 2 factories in a sectional title complex in Germiston South on the Boksburg border. This allowed Genlux to increase their size by 3 times. Within 2 years, they had out grown these premises having to start to buy up adjacent buildings. Genlux Lighting today has now acquired 5 units within the complex, allowing them to separate, yet join all the different departments, from receiving, 2 production lines, despatch and further stores for poles and brackets.

Over the years Genlux Lighting has changed and improved all the ranges. Introducing new light fittings to compliment the range has been the primary function of the Directors. Genlux Lighting boasts a range of Locally casted High Pressure fittings in LM6.

Genlux Lighting is one of the largest manufactures of street and floodlights who don't have the support of an International Company. They are proud to be 100% South African owned and managed. Genlux Lighting has however signed up Agency agreements with a European company to allow them to supply World Class luminaires at local prices. Faelluce, an Italian Luminaire Manufactures supplies Genlux Floodlights and Streetlights, with the most recent projects being Gillooly's and Geldenhuys interchanges.

Genlux Lighting would like to thank the South African Lighting and Electrical Industry for the last 20 years and looks forward to working even closer within the market in the next 20 years.
